Healthcare and quality of life are both reasons why Hospice is an important service that we offer to residents and their families in the community that are facing an end-of-life situation due to a terminal illness. Our clinical team of nurses, social workers, and spiritual ministries staff are trained and committed to the hospice concept of palliative care. We have partnerships and work effectively with Group Health Hospice and Hospice of Kitsap County.

In an end-of-life situation there can be physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the resident in addition to his/her family. With that in mind, the goals of the Hospice program at Martha & Mary include the following:

• Freedom from pain and discomfort with expertise in complex pain management and end of life clinical expertise
• To uplift the quality of the resident's remaining life by allowing the resident and his/her loved ones to continue to make choices that are important to them
• Emotional and spiritual support for the dying resident and his/her loved ones
