Martha & Mary Launches Innovative Therapy Program Using Video Games

July 17, 2017

POULSBO, WA July 17, 2017 — Patients at Martha & Mary can now heighten their recovery process with Jintronix, an innovative rehabilitation tool not found at any other post-acute care center in Kitsap County.   Jintronix combines cutting-edge motion sensors with video games to transform therapy into a fun and interactive experience.

Jintronix is an FDA-cleared rehabilitation platform that includes therapeutic assessments, outcomes data tools, and dozens of games for a diverse range of clinical goals. The platform empowers therapists to design fun and clinically effective therapy programs that are personalized for the unique needs of each patient.

“Therapy is hard work” says Kami DeHeer, Director of Rehab at Martha & Mary, “since implementing Jintronix, I’m finding our patients actually look forward to coming to their sessions and are really engaged in their own therapy.”

When patients are having fun, they’re motivated to push harder. That means improved endurance and more successful outcomes. Recent clinical studies show that video games not only boost patients’ enjoyment of therapy, but also the intensity of rehab and clinical outcomes. Research published on Jintronix shows significant improvement in physical activity performance, patient engagement and quality of life.

By integrating Microsoft Kinect Motion sensor capabilities with its own algorithms, Jintronix provides therapists with meaningful data on patient functional outcomes. Easy to understand graphical progress reports produced by the platform makes a powerful impact on patients by engaging them in their own therapy and keeping them motivated on the long road to recovery.
